Brown's Car Stores and William E. Schuiling were proud to sponsor the Susan G. Komen More Than Pink Walk in Washington, D.C on September 7th, 2019 for the second year in a row. Thousands of participants dressed in Pink, came together on Freedom Plaza to help find a cure to end Breast Cancer. The walk participants were able to raise over $600,000 for Breast Cancer Research and meet the critical needs in our community. The Susan G. Komen Foundation features 4 Pillars that highlight the foundation's mission and how the donations fund each Pillars. Those 4 pillars are Research, Care, Community, and Action. Susan G. Komen saves lives by discovering new treatments, providing access to screenings, providing support to those effected by Breast Cancer, and finally educating policymakers on the burden of Breast Cancer.

Brown Automotive Group and William Schuiling sponsored the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Washington D.C. on Saturday September 8, 2018. The race featured pink-clad participants and brought people from across the nation together on Freedom Plaza to raise close to $600,000 for breast cancer research!

About 1 in 8 women in the United States (12.4%) will develop breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. A man's lifetime risk of breast cancer is about 1 in 1,000. Deaths for women in the U.S. due to breast cancer are higher than those for any other cancer, besides lung cancer. Given that this disease is so prevalent in our country, finding a cure is imperative.

Fundraising through the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure helps support research, care, and community initiatives. Support for breast cancer research provides better detection, prevention and treatment for all types of breast cancers. Fundraising also delivers additional access to innovative clinical trials and low to no-cost screening, diagnosis and treatment.
